5 Reasons Body Butter is Good for Your Skin

Updated: Feb 17, 2022

Discover the amazing benefits of body butter and why and how you should be using it.

Let's talk body butter! Body butter is an anhydrous product made with skin-loving butters and nutrient-rich oils. Mine is made with mango butter, shea butter, and sweet almond oil. The purpose of body butter is mainly to protect the skin...and of course, moisturize it. How do you ask? Well, let me just tell you.

When you apply body butter to your skin, it acts as a barrier between your skin, and the sun and wind. Filled with emollients, body butter also keeps your skin moisturized. It's especially helpful during the dry Fall and Winter months.

Let's get started!

#1 - It's not packed with harsh chemicals

I know this is a huge one for a lot of people out there! It's growing more and more important for me as I raise my children. I don't want products with loads of harsh chemicals absorbed in their skin, or mine! Most of my body butters are 98% plant-based (2% is added fragrance), while the rest are 100% plant-based (fragrance-free or using essential oils).

#2 - Skin nourishing butters and oils

As I mentioned before, body butter is made with skin-nourishing butters and oils. Mango butter, shea butter, and sweet almond oil contain antioxidants and moisturizing properties. They are loaded with vitamins to feed your skin, protect it and hydrate it.

#3 - It protects your skin

The best time to apply body butter is after the shower while your skin is still damp. This is because body butter creates a protective layer on your skin, trapping in moisture. I also love applying it to my feet before bed. I throw on some socks and let the body butter work its magic!

#4 - Soothes freshly shaved legs

My legs always feel so dry after shaving! I swear - they feel like sandpaper. Not hot. Body butter is a huge help. After shaving, apply body butter to your shaved legs and feel instant relief.

Tip #5 - Pregnant mamas love it for their bellies

Lastly, expectant mothers often use body butter to strengthen damaged skin and reduce the red appearance of stretch marks. Since body butter is known to improve skin elasticity, pregnant women often use it on their growing bellies.

To sum it up, it's pretty much magic

Ever since I discovered body butter, I use it every single day. I take it on vacation, in my purse, in my car...it goes everywhere with me. I never know when I'm going to need it from washing my hands, a windy day, or just because I want to smell pretty! If you feel you could benefit from body butter, click here to browse my shop!
